Next Skark concert will take place on the 3rd of August 2010 at 20:00, in Salurinn concert hall in Kópavogur.
Skark´s concerts in Berlin in March 2010 in Stattbad Wedding and in the Icelandic Embassy were a great success!
There, the string ensemble performed in the site-specific installation of the French artist Nicolas Dusollier during the video exhibition of the Austrian Ingrid Hora. The event was jointly presented by the curator Carson Chang from PROGRAM, Christopher David from Stattbad Wedding and Skark member Guðný Þóra Guðmundsdóttir.
The string ensemble Skark was founded by young Icelandic music students in the summer of 2008. The ensemble consists of 15 young string players, who study both in Iceland and abroad. They first performed at the Young People’s Music Festival in 2008, as a part of a concert series. The ensemble now regularly plays in concerts with the conductor Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason. Skark’s concert at the Young People’s Music Festival 2009 was chosen the best classical concert of the year in Iceland’s main newspaper Morgunblaðið.
